A scenic ferry ride takes you from the beautiful riverside town of Caminha to the rugged Galician coastline. Enjoy beautiful Baiona’s beaches and architecture before continuing your journey inland.

Your journey to Santiago starts in the Portuguese border town of Caminha with its magnificent Gothic parish church and charming café-filled square. A scenic ferry ride across the River Minho takes you to Galicia.

Cross the fishing port town of A Guarda before spending the rest of the day and much of the next by the largely rocky shoreline. Allow time to explore Baiona, a delightful seaside town with sandy beaches, medieval streets, a fortress and plenty of tapas restaurants. Spot the Cies islands and floating mussel farms in the Ria de Vigo lagoon before joining pilgrims from the Central Way in Redondela to follow the same path to Santiago de Compostela.

Among the highlights between Redondela and Santiago are the historical city of Pontevedra, the riverside spa town of Caldas de Reis and Padrón, another pretty town which is where the boat carrying St. James’ body is said to have landed.
